A Board meeting of the GDGO was held at Ed and Vicki Jacob’s house on December 8, 2008.
Items discussed were:
- Officer Elections
- Alexander Park Tour and Tournament
- This Website
- Harbins Park
The first item of business was election of officers. The following names and positions were nominated: President – Vicki Jacob, Vice President – Ed Jacob, Secretary/Treasurer – Mike Curtis, Membership – Paul LaPerre, Publicity – Steve Adams, Events – Chris Albers, Web Master – Gerrit VanVranken. All nominations were accepted (Paul’s in absentia) and it was decided to post these on the ADGO site and if there are no objections the new positions will begin Jan. 1, 2009.
The next topic was Alexander Park. Mikey gave an overview of our tour there with Ryan Harris, the landscape architect for the course. Kim Shealy, our Gwinnett County liaison, has asked us to sponsor an opening day tournament, but hasn’t committed to a date. She thinks it will be ready in March. The general consensus of the GDGO was to schedule April 18, 2009 for the Alexander Opening Tournament. We will ask Greg Campbell of Primo Plastic if he’s like to co-sponsor it with us, donating 5% to the GDGO. The county can help with tent/table/chair set-up but can add no funds or prizes.

It will be an information site for Board members to post on; for discussion threads there are convenient links to the ADGO site. He said he will absorb the cost of owning the site per year.
The last item to be discussed was Harbins Park. Several of us went to the County planning support meeting for it, and filled out forms requesting disc golf to be installed with the creation of the park. Ed Jacob, Steve Adams, and Chris Albers all volunteered to be on the Master Plan Steering Committee. Note: All three men have since been accepted onto the Steering Committee, giving us an excellent chance of getting our 4th Gwinnett County Disc Golf Course installed! Congratulations gentlemen!
